This delivery was highly inspired by Japanese Sashiko and Indigo, both for their depth of colour and functional aesthetic.  Japanese workwear was also a major point of inspiration in terms of function and detail.

The Japanese word Sashiko means “little stabs“.  It has long been considered as functional embroidery or a form of decorative reinforcement stitching to repair points of wear or tears with patches, ensuring beauty lies in all, even the functional.

All prints were done by hand, scanned in, and finished in photoshop. An important aspect of this drop was the use of patchworking in certain styles to carry the story of Sashiko – multiple versions of Sashiko prints were used in a single garment to create the illusion of Sashiko pathworking.

This indigo-inspired watercolour floral made sure the collection stayed feminine, while also bringing in the look and depth of blues you might find in Indigo.

Workwear Stripes were also used as inspiration for our Yarn Dyes, ensuring we fully carried the Japanese workwear story throughout as points of support.
